The human brain easily gets addicted to streaks. This is why it was so easy for Snapchat to gain traction–millions of people didn’t want to break their streaks of sending pictures to their friends.
The utility of daily snap-sending is unclear to me, but we can certainly gamify your fitness routine using streaks:
- Buy a big calendar.
- Put it on your wall.
- Go to the gym.
- Put a big red “X” over the day you went to the gym.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 indefinitely.
Now your streak actually means something.
