Feeling like you suck

I once had an athlete say to me, “Tell me I suck. It motivates me to get better.”

That strategy might work for him, but it doesn’t work for me.

It’s easier for me to recall all the times I didn’t suck–all the times there was evidence that I was, in fact, quite good.

Your brain will find evidence for whatever you’re looking for.
