In October I interviewed student-athlete, Hallie Christopher. This line stayed with me more than any other:
“Especially when you go to college and leave your friends from home, if they ‘like’ your Instagram picture you’re still friends . . . If you erase all that and you don’t have that friendship over social media, do you really have that friendship? It’s a cool way to stay connected.”
I think she’s right. In general, young people have a better, more intuitive grasp of how to stay connected through technology. That’s why I’m five years late to downloading Snapchat.
But in general, older people have a wiser understanding about new technology. That’s why my phone still stays on airplane mode for most of the day.
