Whose dream? Whose dream, exactly, are you living?
I don’t like the response “living the dream” after I ask someone how she’s doing. It’s most often a sarcastic way to say, “I’d rather be somewhere else than right here talking to you.” It’s an unintentional slap in the face.
Picture yourself on a Saturday morning with nothing to do. You have all the money you could ask for and no longer need to work. What would you do?
That’s your dream.
I hope you didn’t respond, “I’d watch Netflix all day.” You’d soon find that that’s an unsustainable path towards meaninglessness. “Travel the world”, while fun for a while, would eventually be unsustainable for the same reason. There is no easy answer to the question, “How do you envision your life in the future?”, but it’s an awfully good question to ask.
