Everyone knows that it’s a good idea to floss, but not many people do it every day, let alone twice. The best way to develop a flossing routine is to start with the two front teeth. Just one stroke, in and out. Done.
Over time you start to realize how silly it is to only be flossing two teeth: “While I’m here, I might as well floss a few more.” So you floss four teeth. Then six. Then eight. Soon you start to enjoy flossing. You feel slightly unclean if you don’t.
I think exercise works the same way.
First, just put your exercise clothes on. That’s it. Take them off if you don’t feel like working out. Do that every day at the same time.
Soon you’ll feel like doing something. Maybe it’s just walking, or stretching. Maybe it’s running a bit, or going to the gym for ten minutes. Do that every day at the same time.
Soon you start feeling better and you actually want to do more. Then more. You keep doing it at the same time every day, no matter what.
And there you have it. You now exercise.
