“The most important thing to a man is his head of hair.” ~ Annoying Spotify ad
I panicked when I realized my hairline was receding at the age of 23. One week later I learned to cope it. Two weeks later I was at peace with it. Three weeks later I forgot all about it. Now I celebrate each new hair that falls out as I become more and more myself.
I’m reminded of a famous Steven Pressfield quote from The War of Art:
“Are you paralyzed with fear? That’s a good sign. Fear is good. Like self-doubt, fear is an indicator. Fear tells us what we have to do. Remember one rule of thumb: the more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.”
If fear is the calling, then acceptance is the work. Joy is result.
Some people choose hair implants or plastic surgery. Other people choose joy.
