Our women’s soccer team had a rare day off from practice on Wednesday, but as I was leaving work at 6 p.m. I looked into the fitness center and saw a freshman midfielder running on the treadmill.
I walked over to her and asked why she’d want to run on her day off. “I feel like I’m getting out of shape if I don’t run,” she responded, a little upset that practice was cancelled.
She went on to tell me that if the fitness center was open at 5 a.m. she’d be here every morning. I assumed she must be a morning person.
“No, I’m not. That’s just the time I know I’ll get my workout done.”
I can’t help but roll my eyes when I hear that the fitness center is too crowded. It almost always translates in my mind to, “I’m not willing to do something uncomfortable.”
